This series was produced in collaboration with Foothills Forum. The series ran in the Fauquier Times, the Prince Williams Times, the Culpeper Times, the Rappahannock News and their websites as well as online in the FauquierNow and PotomacLocal.
In May 2020 the Virginia Press Association issued awards for news and advertising in 2019. PJF's Opioid Ripples series won first place in the category of in-depth or investigative reporting and first place in the category of multi media reports. The out of state judges for in depth and investigative reporting commented: "Wow. Few people realize how much the Opioid crisis will affect not just the patient not just the immediate family but society for generation. Great reporting."
