Donations & Disclosures

Gifts are accepted in a number of forms, including by check, wire transfer, money order, credit card, or shares of publicly traded companies. Donations are welcome through donor-advised funds or direct IRA transfers to meet the required minimum distributions. PJF does not accept gifts of personal property, real property, or securities that are not publicly traded. Publicly traded securities may be transferred electronically to PJF’s brokerage account at Virginia National Bank or another designated account. All securities will be sold promptly upon receipt, and the donor will receive a written acknowledgment of the date and number of shares and of the high and low market price on the date of the gift. PJF does not provide legal, tax, or accounting advice to donors.

 

PJF Policy on Independence & Donations

PJF solicits and welcomes gifts that are consistent with its mission and programs as an independent, nonpartisan news organization. Anonymous gifts are discouraged and will not be accepted if they exceed $500. PJF will not accept donations from local government entities, political parties, elected officials, or candidates actively seeking public office. While most contributions are for the general support of PJF's activities, PJF may consider donations to support the coverage of particular topics or projects; but in no case will PJF allow a donor the right to review, edit, or control the content. PJF's news judgments are made independently and are not based on or influenced by donors. PJF lists on its website the names of donors, along with the annual level of gift (below $1,000, $1,000 - $4,999, and $5,000 and over).
